Microtech Out-the-Front Knives: The Ultratechs

Microtech Knives is known for their spring assisted out-the-front (OTF) knives. The Halo V’s , out-the-front Troodons, Combat Troodons, and the Microtech Nemesis‘s to name a few of their widely known OTF knives. Need to decide which Microtech OTF is the right size for you, check out this Microtech OTF Size Comparison Chart at the bottom of this post.

As per the heading of this post, I will be talking about the Microtech Ultratech.

The Ultratech is a great OTF! It’s large enough to be considered a man’s knife, but small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket (tho I recommend keeping it in its carrying pouch for a safer carry). With the blade deployed, the length of this knife is 8.5″. Closed, it measures at about 4.7″. The blade length is 3.4″ and weighs only 3.5 oz. The blade is made of S35-VN or 154CM stainless steel (various finishes) with a 6061-T6 anodized aluminum handle. The blade (plain, serrated, or partially serrated) comes in various styles: double-edge bayonet, dagger, tanto or drop point. The MT Ultratech features a pocket clip, glass breaker and all hardware is made of stainless steel (black or satin finish depending on the color of the blade itself). The Microtech Ultratech OTF fires in and out automatically by sliding the firing button found on the  knife’s right side. The deployment action on these is exceptional. In my honest opinion, I think the Ultratech series is the best OTF bang for the buck.
